A man named Clark and his dog Toby lived
in a cozy
little house. They were situated in a little suburban town. At the
present they were in the living room. Clark was sitting in his recliner
reading his book and Toby was lying down on the floor next to Clark’s
feet. It was Saturday evening, so after Clark was finished reading, he
and Toby were going to go for a walk. Clark finished up and marked his
page and then put the book into the drawer that was next to the chair. He
shut off his reading lamp and went to the door where Toby’s leash was
hanging on a hook. Toby heard the jingle of the leash and hurried to
Clark. Clark quickly snapped it on and they walked out the door. It was
a nice evening. A quiet wind blew through the trees and rustled the
leaves while Clark and Toby were on their walk. On the way they walked
into town where they went to a small general store. Clark needed to get a
birthday card for his friend Tammy. She was a lovely woman, and Clark
enjoyed himself whenever she was around. He went to the card aisle and
picked out a cute little card for her. He was going to be seeing her
tomorrow for their dinner date, which was for her birthday. He was taking
her to a nice restaurant in town. It was one of those restaurants that
when you walked in had all sorts of fabulous smells. Each table was
decorated with a fine table cloth, flower, and candle, along with the
proper silver ware. The lighting was dim and the place itself seemed to
give off a romantic feeling.
That night when Clark and Toby returned from their walk, he
unhooked the leash from Toby’s collar and put it back on the hook. Then
he went into the bedroom and changed into some sweatpants and a t-shirt.
He went and got a glass of water and then turned off the lights in the
house and went back to his bedroom and laid down in bed. While he laid
there he usually just thought about his day, and daydreamed about sweet
little things until he fell asleep. The next morning when Clark woke up
he got ready for his day and just relaxed for a bit. After he was done
with that he gave Tammy a call. They talked for a bit and then got
together and went out. Clark went over to Tammy’s and they went into
town. They walked around going past the shops and stopping occasionally
to look at the window displays. There was a variety of different stores
in town. They had walked past a gun shop that carried some hunting
supplies and had a case in the window showing a shiny pistol that was of
high quality. They also walked past the jewelry store. It wasn’t one of
the fancy jewelry stores that only carried the most expensive things, but
had a nice selection of diamonds, pearls, and such. Tammy asked Clark if
they could go in and look, and Clark obliged. Tammy looked through the
display cases looking at all the beautifully crafted jewelry. While she
was doing that, she hadn’t noticed that Clark was talking to the store
owner. They both left, and when they got outside Clark told Tammy to stop
for a moment. Clark dug into his pocket and pulled out a jewelry box.
She was confused but yet excited. She didn’t know what to think. Then
Clark handed the long slender box to her. She opened the box to find a
beautiful pearl necklace. Her eyes seemed to sparkle and while she was
eyeing it Clark said, "Happy Birthday." Tammy’s eyes looked toward Clark
only to find a big smile on Clark’s face. She gave him a big hug and they
just held each other while Tammy thanked him. Clark pulled away and
grabbed the box and took out the necklace. He then put it around her neck
with care and fastened the back.
They then walked past some of the other shops in town, and then decided to
go. They went back to Tammy’s for lunch. They sat around and ate some
sandwiches and then talked like they usually did. They watched some TV
for a while, and then ended up going back out to go to a movie. After the
movie it was about time to start getting ready to go to their dinner.
Clark drove back to Tammy’s to drop her off, and then he went back to his
house. They both got ready and then Clark went back to Tammy’s house.
When he pulled into the driveway Tammy was ready and was getting ready to
walk out the door. Clark got out of the car and saw her step out into the
porch light and saw her look just incredible. She walked down the stairs
and to the pathway where Clark then greeted her with a hug. They got into
the car and arrived at the restaurant around 7:45. They waited for their
table and then were seated. They had a wonderful dinner. They savored
the day as they did with most of their days together. They then finished
up and Clark returned Tammy to her house. Clark came in with Tammy and
they went and sat on the couch. They both sat there with each other
watching some TV, only to doze off both on the couch. Clark woke up a bit
later in the night, carefully so not to wake up Tammy, and then picked her
up to place her in her bed. She half way awoke and thanked him. Clark
whispered a good night, and then went back to his house. He was greeted
by Toby, and then got ready for bed.
